Getting into the Eighteenth Street Lounge may require getting past the very selective velvet rope. The Iota Club and Cafe
The Iota Club and Cafe is well-known for its open mic night. This is no pedestrian karaoke bar, but a coffee-house type of place right out of the 60s with a decidedly modern feel. Musicians who are just starting out or seasoned vets get a chance to play in front of a truly captive audience. The fare also includes poetry readings and other performance artists as well. That cool-hippie vibe is reinforced with the cafe's exceptional vegetarian menu, but it also includes a great selection of soups, salads and appetizers.
